William Lee Fisher passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in Middleville, Michigan, at the age of 99. Born on December 8, 1925, in Terre Haute, Indiana, William was the son of Homer

Everett Fisher and Leona Jane (Riddle) Fisher. He grew up alongside his older brother Ural and younger sister Sue Ann. In 1926, the family relocated to Muncie, Indiana, where his father worked for many years in the newspaper industry—an early influence that would shape William’s lifelong career.

A proud graduate of Muncie Central High School in 1943, William answered the call to serve his country during World War II. He joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska during his military service. Upon returning home, he embarked on a career in the printing industry that spanned decades and reflected both his technical skill and leadership.

William’s professional journey led him to a position as a salesman for Mergenthaler Linotype based in Grand Rapids, Michigan—a role that placed him at the forefront of print technology during a transformative era. In August 1958, he married Karin M. England. Together they built a life filled with love and purpose. They welcomed their son Michael in 1959 while living in East Grand Rapids and their daughter Linda in 1963 after relocating to Indianapolis.

Eventually settling in St. Joseph, Michigan, William became Production Manager of the local newspaper under publisher Willard J. Banyon. His vision and dedication were instrumental in designing and overseeing the construction of a new publishing plant that was finished in 1978. He retired from this role in 1988 after an accomplished career marked by innovation and integrity.

William's greatest joy and serenity was found from 1967-2009 at “The Cottage” in Golden Sands—a cherished retreat where countless family memories were made along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Later in life, he and Karin embraced winters spent under Florida’s sun in Naples before making it their permanent home in 2009.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his beloved wife of 67 years, Karin.

He is survived by his son Michael (Dodi); daughter Linda; grandsons Michael James Fisher, Matthew Ryan Fisher, and Andrew Robert Uhrik; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Rooted in faith throughout his life’s journey, William now rests peacefully with the Lord. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace through faith to those who mourn his passing.
