Walter Frank Monroe Jr. was born on August 7, 1949, in Sturgis, Michigan.

Walter proudly served in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Plattsburgh, New York, he met his longtime significant other, Lori Metivier, with whom he shared 30 years. He later worked as an electronic technician.

An outdoorsman at heart, Walter enjoyed camping and fishing. Some of his son Walter’s favorite memories were the times they spent tent camping and fishing together at Sheep Creek near Anchorage, Alaska, where they would fish for silver salmon. Walter also had a lifelong love of music and, in his later years, enjoyed keeping up with the news.

Walter will be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving man. He was outgoing, down-to-earth, and always willing to help others—a truly wonderful person who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
