Tina Irene Hazlett, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world on December , 2025, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on July 29, 1960, in Yuba City, California, Tina was the cherished daughter of Lester James Snyder and Thelma Ruth Gregory, both of whom have preceded her in death, along with one of her sisters.
As a dedicated military wife, Tina's life was marked by resilience and love as she navigated numerous moves with her first husband. During their time together, they found themselves stationed at significant bases across the United States and abroad, including Keeler AFB in Biloxi, MS, Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA, and Camp Zama in Japan, where she welcomed her sons, Christopher and Matthew, into the world. After departing from military life, Tina would go on to marry again and give birth to her beloved daughter Amber in January of 1991 at Beale AFB in California. In 2005, Tina made the heartfelt decision to relocate to Southwest Michigan with her daughter, Amber, in search of new beginnings.
Tina's incredibly nurturing spirit was evident throughout her life. She had a profound love for nature that was inherited from her grandmother, who adored hummingbirds. Tina, too, found solace in the beauty of the outdoors, developing an obsession with dragonflies and a special fondness for flowers and gardening. During the formative years of her children, she cultivated vibrant vegetable gardens that her children continue to remember with joy. Even in life's simplest moments, Tina took immense pleasure in tending to her cherished hydrangeas and the dynamic colors of her garden, including the beloved Rose-of-Sharon.
Her warmth extended beyond gardening; Tina's heart was always open to helping those around her. She had a gift for communication, consistently seeking to connect with her family and friends. Her children, Christopher, Matthew, and Amber, recall the nostalgic melodies of Yanni echoing through their home as their mother dove into her daily tasks.
Education was also a part of Tina's journey, as she completed a Certificate of Completion in Medical Billing and Coding. This achievement reflected her desire to support and help others while also fostering her professional aspirations.
Tina was not only a nurturing mother but also a joyous grandmother to four beloved grandchildren, who will carry the light of her love and kindness forward. Her passion for crocheting and crafting provided her with moments of calm and joy that renewed her spirit, even until her final days.
Tina’s legacy is one of unconditional love, warmth, and creativity. She had an endearing fondness for Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh and fostered happiness through the simple treasures of life. Tina is survived by her sons Christopher Carpenter and Matthew Carpenter, her daughter Amber Kucerak, her siblings Pamela Sohnrey, Frank Scritchfield, and Paul Scritchfield, and a multitude of family and friends who cherished her dearly.
As we reflect on Tina's life, we are reminded that her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her devotion to family, her love for nature, and her unwavering kindness will continue to inspire all who had the honor of sharing a part of life’s journey with her.
It will be with fond memories that her uniquely unforgettable laugh, and the smile that would light up a room, will be remembered by those who were blessed to have experienced them.
