Timothy Nathan Platek, born May 3, 1964, to Sharon and Daryl Platek Sr. in Albion, MI passed away August 3, 2025, in Battle Creek, MI. He was a graduate of Marshall High School class of 1982.
Tim spent his childhood outdoors with his siblings and was an exceptional hunter and fisherman. He loved the river and spent many afternoons swimming and floating with friends and family. Tim was described his whole life as a “Jack of all Trades” and the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back.
He worked for Avery Leasing as a diesel mechanic for many years before switching to a career as a carpenter, where he excelled in the craft. Tim was extremely mechanically inclined and could fix anything with an engine. He loved cars and was an avid fan of Mopar. Later in adulthood, Tim spent time working on the Bering Sea in Alaska on fishing boats.
Tim is survived by his children, Katie Platek (Dillon McMillon) and Joseph (Chloe) Platek; his grandchildren, Elyse and Kara McMillon; siblings, Daryl Platek Jr, James Platek and Karen Cox; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents; his stepfather, Lloyd Cox and sister, Debroah Fitzgerald.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 2-6pm at the Marshall Moose Lodge, 1238 S. Kalamazoo Ave. Marshall, MI 49068. The family requests that no flowers be sent and any donations be made in Tim’s name to The Haven of Rest Ministries, 11 Green Street Battle Creek, MI 49014.
