IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tim Joe
Newnum
March 8, 1971 – March 5, 2026
Tim Joe Newnum, age 54, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on March 5, 2026, just three days before his 55th birthday. He was born on March 8, 1971, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and a community that knew him as larger than life.
Tim had a happy childhood and often spoke fondly of fishing with his dad and riding bikes with friends. He was outgoing and outspoken, possessing a rare gift for pulling people out of their shells. Known as the life of the party, Tim had a quick wit and a sense of humor that ranged from playful to boldly raunchy. He had a deep love for comedy, storytelling—especially bedtime stories—and music, with OCDC being his favorite band.
A true people-person, Tim was the planner of get-togethers and cherished the time spent with his family. He lived by the belief that “what goes around comes around—tenfold,” valuing trust deeply. A foodie at heart, he enjoyed watching races and fights on television, attending concerts, and sharing experiences with those he loved.
Tim took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed making salsa with his son Jake, where he was famously particular about getting the peppers just right. He also found joy in building race cars, following MMA fighting, and creating memories through shared laughter and conversation.
Tim is survived by his children, Jake, Kristian, and Paige; his grandchildren, Jace, Jocie, and Nova; and his siblings, Michael, Randy, AJ, Billie Jean, Marcie, Nicky, Mary Jo, and Annie. He is also survived by his father, George Michael Newnum, and his mother, Darlene.
Tim was preceded in death by his biological mother, Catherine Janet Mullins.
Tim Joe Newnum will be remembered for his infectious personality, his storytelling, his humor, and the way he brought people together. His presence filled rooms, his laughter was unmistakable, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
A limb has fallen from the family tree
I hear a voice that whispers, ‘Grieve not for me’
Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs
The good I lived while I was strong
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you
Keep on smiling, the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest
Remembering all…how I was truly blessed
Continue traditions, no matter how small
Go on with your lives, don’t stare at the wall
I miss you all dearly so keep up your chin
Until that fine day we’re together again.
P.S I HOPE YOU FALL ON A RAKE!
