October 30, 1942 – December 3, 2025
Thomas Duane Kokoczka, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away at home on December 3, 2025, in Michigan Center, MI. Born on October 30, 1942, in Jackson, MI, Thomas lived a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
His caring nature and warm humor made an indelible mark on all who knew him. Known as the jokester of any room, Thomas had an innate ability to bring joy and lightheartedness to everyday moments. His loving spirit was evident to everyone he encountered. He was particularly devoted to his wife, Sheryl, and their shared moments together at the Gateway Park Campground in Hillsdale, MI, are memories that will forever be treasured.
Thomas proudly served as a member of the Navy, embodying a dedication and commitment that reflected his character in all walks of life. He embraced his Polish heritage passionately, often reminiscing over vibrant Polish music, which resonated deeply in his heart. In the company of friends and family, he loved to dance, creating an atmosphere of joy and happiness. His devotion to his heritage extended to the Polish Falcons, where he was honored with the Legion of Honor Award in recognition of his contributions and steadfast commitment to the club; a distinction that reflected his pride and service to community and culture.
Golf was another passion of his; he relished playing at the Lakeland Hills Golf Club in Jackson, MI, where the sun and laughter would often merge into perfect rounds. Perhaps most notably, Thomas was an ardent supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, cheering passionately for his team, a reflection of his spirited and supportive nature.
Thomas leaves behind his loving wife, Sheryl Kokoczka (Green), of Michigan Center, MI, and his devoted son, Tom Kokoczka, of Mason, MI. He also cherished his daughters, Nichole Kokoczka (Jim Shellburg) of Jackson, MI, Bridgette Kokoczka of Arlington, TX, and Kristina (Walter) Keyes of Jackson, MI. His legacy continues through his three grandsons, Zach, Hunter, and Josh Keyes, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Kokoczka.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Kokoczka, his mother, Emily Loizer, and his brothers Frank, John, and Dennis Kokoczka, who are remembered fondly.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice for their exceptional care during Thomas's final days, ensuring he was surrounded by comfort and love.
During this time of sorrow, we celebrate the beautiful life that Thomas Duane Kokoczka led, a life enriched by love, laughter, and heartfelt connections with those around him. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.
A small, intimate graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church in Michigan Center, MI, the Polish Falcons Nest 336 Building Fund, or Heart to Heart Hospice.
