Terry Trewhitt a man of quiet strength, musical soul, and boundless compassion passed away surrounded by love and memories that spanned generations. Born and raised in Michigan, Terry attended school in Kalamazoo and graduated in Three Rivers, laying the foundation for a life marked by dedication, creativity, and deep-rooted values.
On June 7, 1975, Terry married the love of his life, Brenda Duke. Together, they recently celebrated 50 beautiful years of marriage a milestone that reflected not just time, but a lifetime of shared laughter, adventures, and unwavering devotion. In 1979, they settled in the Village of Marcellus, where their home became a haven of warmth and welcome.
Terry began his working career as a Tool & Die Maker, while also helping on the family farm alongside his father, Herbert. But it was music that truly stirred his spirit. At just 14, he began playing with his dad in the band Country Gentleman, sparking a lifelong passion that evolved from drums to a deep love for the bass guitar. Terry’s musical journey led him to perform with numerous bands over the years, most notably Whiskey Run, where he played for eight unforgettable years packing venues and winning hearts with every note.
Beyond the stage, Terry was a pillar of his community. He served as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT for the Village of Marcellus Fire Department, dedicating three years to the safety and care of his neighbors. He was also an avid outdoorsman, with a love for fishing and hunting that lasted until 1998.
After retiring from Peterson Spring, Terry embraced new passions tending to his yard, planting vibrant flowers, and tackling home repairs with quiet pride. He had a gentle heart for animals and nature, often feeding squirrels from his hand, offering carrots to the neighborhood rabbit, and showing affection to every cat that crossed his path. His Labrador, Sadie Belle, was his constant companion, and she now mourns the loss of her best friend.
Terry found joy in the simple pleasures: spontaneous drives with Brenda to nowhere in particular, weekend car rides with his daughter Jessi, and monthly jam sessions at the VFW every fourth Friday. His life was a melody of love, service, and authenticity a song that will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. Terry also cherished his daily conversations with his son Kerry, sharing memes and meaningful exchanges that brought laughter and connection to their days.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Brenda Trewhitt, and his children, Kerry (Karry) Trewhitt and Jessica (Jason) Jarrard. Terry took immense pride in being a doting grandfather to ten loving grandchildren: Gavin Trewhitt, Ashleigh Jarrard, Kaylee (David) Watkins, Kaitlyn Trewhitt, McKenzie Trewhitt, William Alber, Aaron Alber, Andrew Alber, and his two granddaughters from Spain, Lucia and Blanca. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy and laughter in his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Shari (Chuck) Gowan, who held a special place in his heart. Terry was predeceased by his father, Herbert Andrew Trewhitt; his mother, Janice Ailene Trewhitt (Thor); and his brother, Stanley Herbert Trewhitt.
