Terry Lee Carothers, fiercely loved and deeply cherished, passed away gently at home on July 9, 2025, surrounded in the comfort of her family’s presence. Born August 26, 1954, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Terry moved through life with a grace that lifted those around her. She had a gift—not just for joy, but for reminding others of their own light when they’d forgotten it.
Throughout her career, Terry thrived as a Retail Manager, demonstrating a strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to her profession. However, it was her fun-loving spirit and magnetic personality that truly defined her. Described by her family as “Fun, Positive, Outgoing, and Happy,” Terry sparkled wherever she went, filling rooms with her infectious smile and spontaneous laughter. She embraced the thrill of a good time, especially when visiting the casino—drawn to the energy, the excitement, and the possibility of a lucky break. It was just another way she lived life with joy and sparkle.
Terry found great joy in nature, particularly in the delicate beauty of butterflies and the vibrant energy of hummingbirds. Her favorite color, purple, mirrored the warmth she radiated. A cherished saying of hers, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff,” resonated deeply with family and friends, reflecting her approach to life and the importance of savoring the little moments.
Her greatest pride was her family, which she cherished above all else. She always looked forward to the gatherings her loved ones organized—relishing the camaraderie, laughter, and love that filled those spaces. She leaves behind her mother, Carolyn Wardlaw; beloved children Asia Christie, Valerie Hill, Garald Carothers, Katrina Henson, Brandon Carothers, and Travis Carothers; and dear sisters Bonnie Mann, Connie Queen, and Kimberly Bleeker. Her legacy lives on through her many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will remember her loving spirit, contagious joy, and treasured stories.
Terry now joins in eternal rest her devoted husband of 50 years, Patrick Carothers; father, Jimmie Queen; step-father, George Wardlaw; brothers, Larry Queen, Ronnie Queen, and Wesley Queen; sister, Debbie Queen; cherished Aunt Janet Clough; favorite cousin, Peggy Hiither; and great-grandson, Carter Joseph Loring. As she gracefully spreads her wings, her family wishes everyone to know that “She now flies with the butterflies.”
Terry Lee Carothers touched countless lives with her love and laughter. She is remembered not only as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—but as a radiant soul who reminded us all to live joyfully, love deeply, and never underestimate the magic of a well-timed smile.
