Shirley Ann Harger Brown Gray went to her heavenly home on October 27,2025 with her family by her side. She was born in the beautiful state of Washington in 1953, and a proud graduate of Comstock High school in 1971. Shirley then went on to marry Larry Brown who preceded her in death in 1976. After that she met and married her surviving husband Carl Gray "Bud" in 1976. Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Shirley had many hobbies that included reading: with King, Kuntz, and Patterson being at the top of her favorites list, watching wrestling and murder mysteries on TV, playing pool, and various card games. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed being with her family. She loved fishing at 3 Lakes and being at Canyon Lake, AZ where she felt the closest to God.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Carl Gray of Marshall; 3 beautiful children, Stephannie Brown of Battle Creek, Laurie (Bob) Knapp of Comstock, and Andrew (Mary) Gray of Marshall. Her grandchildren, Misty, Dylan, Christopher, Richard, Andrew Jr, Gavin and Addilynn; great grandchildren, Hailey, Bentlei, Eli, Harper, Dylan Jr and Holden; brothers and sisters, Richard (Cathy) Harger, Melody McDaniels, Cindy Cuasano, Steve Ballay, Ken (Mary) Brown, William (Sherry) Gray, Karin Gray, Jack (Raelene) Gray, David (Diane) Gray, Darlene Fox, Steven Gray and Dianna (Jim) Holman.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Shirley Harger; her grandson, Mark Rowe; her brothers and sisters, Clyde Harger Jr, Peggy Harger, John Harger, Pat Harger, Glenna Weston, Eric Lowman, Dawn Lowman, Edward Gray and Clarence Gray.
She leaves behind many cousins, family and other close friends. Her kids and grandkids can still hear a few of her favorite sayings:
"If you have not learned one thing new today than you have wasted your whole day."
"If you can't talk it into their head, you can't beat it into their butt."
"Don't go to bed mad, tomorrow is never promised."
"And when I die don't cry for me, celebrate my life."
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at SandHill 11401 17 Mile Rd, Marshall, MI 49068 at 4pm.
