Boland-Green

Kalamazoo, MI
Sherry Lynn Boland-Green, 68, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Sherry was born on August 18, 1958, in Kalamazoo to the late Wesley Boland and JoEllen (Vieke) Flaten. She graduated from Old Central High School and spent much of her life devoted to helping others.
Together with her late husband, Michael D. Green, Sherry founded and operated Eastwood House of Recovery. Recovery and service to others were important parts of Sherry’s life, and she was deeply involved in her community. Whether organizing fundraisers, euchre games, hog roasts and bingo or simply helping someone who was struggling, Sherry was someone people could count on. She was known to give the shirt off her back if someone needed it.
Sherry was a spiritual woman with an ambitious and compassionate spirit. She had a spontaneous side, a tremendous capacity for tough love, and a genuine desire to see others succeed. Her commitment to recovery and community outreach touched the lives of many, but some of her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
Sherry is survived by her children, Melisa (Michael) Roberts, Amanda (Garry Jr.) Hale, and Seth Boland; stepchildren, Marc Green and Jessica Ponzi and family; grandchildren, Jerry Boland II, Clarissa Boland, Sierra Johnson, Justise Johnson, Ally Johnson, Mia Hale, Olivia Hale, Garry Hale III, Sophia Roberts, Annabella Roberts, and Zachary Roberts; and great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mary (Terry) Julian, Johnny Boland, Debbie Yanke, Kenneth (Monica) Hale, Garry (Angie) Hale, Opal Hale, Wesley Boland, Teresa Keifer, and Rhonda Blaisdell; her sister by choice, Peg Hudson; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Green; her parents, Wesley Boland and JoEllen Flaten; her brother, Kevin Boland; sister-in-law, Michelle Boland; son, Jerry Boland; grandsons, Jesse Boland and Clinton-Marcus Martin Jr.; and niece, Casey Boland.
Sherry will be remembered for her compassion, her strength, her spontaneity, her tough love, and the countless ways she reached out to help others. Her dedication to recovery and her community leaves a lasting legacy, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at a later date.
