Rosan Maria Whitsel, a beloved wife, mother, and animal rescuer, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born on September 10, 1959, Rosan brought light and love to everyone she encountered throughout her journey in life.

In her professional career, Rosan was a truck driver alongside her husband, John Whitsel, a vocation that not only showcased her adventurous spirit but also strengthened the bond between them. They both took great pride in their work, where each mile traveled was a shared adventure. Once she transitioned from the demands of the road, Rosan dedicated her life to being a homemaker and an animal rescuer, pouring her intelligence and caring nature into causes that mattered deeply to her.

Rosan's love for animals was boundless. She rescued several cats, and at the time of her passing, her home was a haven for eight indoor and three outdoor cats. She worked tirelessly alongside veterinarians and shelters to save countless animals, embodying her belief that every creature deserves a loving home. Her compassion inspired those around her, and she helped others in her community to engage in animal rescue efforts, spreading her love for animals far and wide.

Aside from her remarkable commitment to animal welfare, Rosan had a multitude of hobbies that filled her days with joy. She found immense pleasure in reading and loved exploring flea markets and garage sales, where she often found hidden treasures. A particular delight was her passion for gardening; she cherished the vibrant colors of yellow roses, lilacs, and tulips among her favorites, making her garden a beautiful sanctuary that her husband lovingly created for her enjoyment.

Traveling was another adventure that brought Rosan great joy. She particularly looked forward to visiting the tulip festival and loved going for drives to appreciate Christmas lights, whether they were local attractions or the enchanting cave lights in Kentucky. Sharing these experiences with friends and family brought her happiness, and she maintained connections near and far through her presence on Facebook.

Rosan was a nurturing partner to her husband, John, who came home each day to the delicious meals she had prepared with love. Their relationship epitomized a caring and respectful partnership where both actively supported each other's interests and pursuits. Together they built a life rich in love, warmth, and mutual respect.

Rosan leaves behind her devoted husband, John, and her son, David Schulz. She is also survived by her cherished stepchildren: Laura, Michael, Antonio, and Douglas, and her beloved grandchildren: Liam, Allison, Maddie, Makenzie, John, Jaxson, DJ, and Penny. Her passing is felt deeply across generations, as her spirit will live on in all those she touched.

Rosan is now reunited with her parents, Rudy and Eileen Bohm, who have been waiting to embrace her once again. Their family legacy lives on through the memories and love shared by those left behind.

As we remember Rosan Maria Whitsel, let us celebrate her beautiful life, her endless compassion, and the joyous moments she gifted to others. Her legacy will continue to inspire kindness and care for all living beings.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA in Rosan’s name, honoring her lifelong devotion to animal rescue and welfare.
