Robert Paul Steffic, 83, of Lawrence, Michigan, passed away on May 1, 2026, at Bronson Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1942.

Robert was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Following his graduation from Portage Central High School, he enlisted in the Navy and spent four years aboard the USS Wasp as a weapons loader crew member. His responsibilities included preparing, handling, and loading ammunition into the ship’s primary and secondary artillery guns, work that required precision, teamwork, and dedication. He was honorably discharged on May 7, 1967, and remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life.

Robert spent much of his career self-employed as a painting contractor, operating Steffic’s Painting Co. He was hardworking, dependable, and took pride in the work he provided for others.

He made his home in Lawrence, Michigan, on Christie Lake, where he enjoyed spending his summers fishing. He also loved deer season, relaxing in the deer blind, and spending time with his friends. Those who knew Robert will remember his appreciation for the outdoors, his strong work ethic, and the pride he carried for his family and country.

Robert is survived by his son, Dwayne; his grandchildren, Mathew, Jill, Kyle, Anthony, Dylan, and Derek; and his sisters, Rosemary and Barbara.
