Ricky Dale McCowan, age 66, passed away on January 8, 2026, at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on September 17, 1959, in Coldwater, Michigan, Ricky was a beloved figure in his community, known for his humor, warmth, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Ricky lived a life filled with passion and personality. A proud and lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions, he loved sharing the excitement of the game with friends. His appreciation for rock and roll, especially The Beatles, was a constant soundtrack to his days. Ricky enjoyed fishing with friends, attending Mopar car shows with his son and grandson, and admiring Mopar vehicles that reminded him of his own cherished car and motorcycle from his younger years. He also loved NASCAR, riding his motorcycle, and many other hobbies that reflected his vibrant spirit.

Before retiring, Ricky worked as a forklift driver at the Walmart Distribution Center in Coldwater, Michigan, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Ricky is survived by his children, Bryce McCowan (Alisha) and Stacy (Eric) Thompson, and by his four grandchildren, Alexander, Aria, Fiona, and Miles, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also survived by his sisters, Doreen Buckner (Dennis Mosley) and Doris (Richard) Lyon, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart: Joey (Kelley) McCowan and their two children, Corey McCowan, Nick (Monica) McCowan and their three children, and Michelle (Randy) San Anton and their two children.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Homer McCowan and Tennie Wilson McCowan, and by his brothers Roger McCowan and Ronnie McCowan.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and was handled by First Family Funeral and Cremation Service.

Ricky Dale McCowan’s legacy of humor, love, and friendship will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit lives on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
