Richard “Rick” C. Holmes, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Kalamazoo. He was born on November 16, 1951, in Allegan, Michigan.

Rick will be remembered as a hardworking man who spent his career doing apartment and mobile home maintenance. He took pride in staying busy and working with his hands, and that same practical spirit carried into the things he enjoyed most in life. He loved to fish, enjoyed playing games on the computer, and liked to tinker with tools in his shed.

A special part of Rick’s life was his marriage to his wife, Merilee. The two were married on April 21, 1995, in Allegan, Michigan, beginning a partnership that lasted 31 years.

He is survived by his wife, Merilee Holmes; his sons, Theo Baker, Steven Wikel, and Jamie Cutter; his sisters, Linda (Dennis) Billman, Christine (Randy) Martin, and Roxanne (Jim) McIntyre; and his sisters-in-law, Janan Zimmerman, Dawn (Robert) Zimmerman-Flach, and Valerie (Jose Sanchez) Brown; and brother-in-law, Ira Ashby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marjorie Holmes.

Rick will be remembered with love by his family and by all who shared in the simple, meaningful moments of his life. May his memory bring comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
