Richard Jeffrey Glynn, 82, of Decatur, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 24, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

Richard was born on December 3, 1943, in South Haven, Michigan, to Louis and Catherine (Seide) Glynn. On April 24, 1965, he married Audrey Urick in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Together they shared more than 61 years of marriage.

He proudly served six years in the Army National Guard. Richard worked for 32 years as a welder at Sundstrand Corporation, retiring in 1995. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to fix almost anything, often helping family and friends with repairs and home improvement projects.

Richard was an active member of First Baptist Church of Decatur, where his faith was a guiding force in his life. He was also a proud member of the American Legion, honoring his military service and supporting his fellow veterans.

Richard was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed fishing on local lakes, deer hunting with his sons, drinking his coffee black, and cracking open a cold one with anyone who stopped by. He found joy in watching nature and taking life slow and steady—except when it came to splitting wood, which he did fast and furiously.

One of Richard’s favorite pastimes was sitting in a chair in his garage, watching the traffic go by and waving to everyone who passed. He was always ready with a friendly wave and a smile for neighbors, friends, and even strangers. Whether he knew them or not, everyone was greeted the same way—with kindness, a wave, and a warm smile.

He will be remembered for his warm heart, easygoing nature, and genuine kindness. He never met a stranger and had a welcoming smile that immediately put others at ease. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcome wherever he went.

His greatest joy was his family. He especially treasured time with his grandchildren—sharing stories, teaching practical skills, and working alongside his sons, Allen and David, on projects such as building garages and remodeling homes. These were among his happiest moments, and his laughter, wisdom, and steady example left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Richard also shared a special bond with his daughters‑in‑law, Kristin and Patty, whom he embraced as daughters. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, stop by for a visit, or simply be present. His dependability, generosity, and quiet strength were the foundation of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey Glynn; his son and daughter‑in‑law, David and Kristin Glynn; his daughter‑in‑law, Patty Glynn Markillie; his grandchildren, Lauren (Dustin Kolberg) Glynn, Austin Glynn, Thomas (Emily) Glynn, and Maxwell (Alyssa) Glynn; his great‑grandchildren, Florena Marie Glynn Kolberg, Henry, Azalea, Avery, Summer, Havyn Glynn, and Mason Chorba; and his brother, John Glynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Catherine (Seide) Glynn; his son, Allen Glynn; his great‑grandson, Jacob Glynn; and his siblings Arnold, Edward, Clyde, Doug, Roger, Phyllis, Iris, and Charlotte.

Richard’s legacy lives on not in possessions, but in the lives he touched. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his example, friends who cherished his kindness, and generations who will carry forward the lessons he taught through his life.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the home of David and Kristin Glynn, 40400 80th Avenue, Decatur, MI 49045.
