A devoted NASCAR fan, Ray especially enjoyed following his favorite driver Tony Stewart, immersing himself in the excitement of the sport. He also took great pride in selling his fruit at the Farmer's Market, a testament to his hard work.

Ray leaves behind his two sons, Zachary and Aiden Smith; his former wife, Nichole Smith; his sister, Jessica Potter; and his step-mother, Gloria Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond E. Smith, Sr.
