Raymond "Skeet"
Ellsworth, Jr.
April 22, 1955 – May 28, 2026
Raymond "Skeet" Leroy Ellsworth JR, age 71, of Elkhart, IN, passed away on May 28, 2026 in his hometown. Born on April 22, 1955 to Joyce (Boatman) Gibson and Raymond Ellsworth SR, Raymond was a simple man who found happiness in an uncomplicated lifestyle characterized by simplicity, honesty, and loyalty. He was a wanderer at heart, a free bird of sorts who was always on the move, seeking new experiences and adventures, never staying in one place too long but always returning to his roots in Elkhart.
Raymond was a man of a few words but he loved his family deeply, even if he didn't always show it in traditional ways. His love was as quiet, unique and steadfast as the man himself. Raymond was a handyman by trade, specializing in plumbing before becoming disabled, but his true passion was riding his Harley. He also had an unusual hobby of collecting all sorts of knives always having one on him. His witty comebacks and sense of humor were part of his charm. He loved listening to music, and his loyal canine companion, Loki, was always by his side. He spoiled that dog rotten, treating her like another family member.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Jessica Simpson; his son, Ricky Simpson; and his grandchildren, Tate Simpson, Katelyn (Simpson) Arms, Tristan Simpson, Allison Simpson, and Elizabeth Simpson. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Raymond is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce (Boatman) Gibson; his father, Raymond Ellsworth SR; his sister, Vicky Ellsworth; and his brother, Lonnie Gibson.
Remembering a man of great character who lived life on his own terms and never stopped exploring. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire us to live life with honesty, loyalty and a sense of adventure, just as he did. The memory of Raymond (Skeet) Ellsworth will forever be etched in our hearts. May he rest in peace, as he rides his Harley to the other side, spread your wings and fly high free bird.
