Pamela J. Mitchell, affectionately known as Pam, passed away peacefully at her home in Niles, MI, on December 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 2, 1963, in Niles, Pam was a cherished member of her community and a devoted advocate for the joy that dogs bring into our lives.

From a young age, Pam's love for dogs was evident, and it shaped both her personal and professional life. She took her passion to new heights as the owner and operator of PJ's Puppy Day Care in Niles, where she created a welcoming haven for dogs and their owners alike, reflecting her lifelong devotion to the furry friends she adored.

On June 7, 1980, she married her beloved husband, Robert Mitchell, in a ceremony at Bethel Baptist Church in Niles, MI. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, punctuated by wonderful moments shared with their family.

Pam's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Robert Mitchell; daughter, April (Andrew) Rutz; and her granddaughter, Lily Rutz, who brought immense joy to her life. She will also be remembered by her siblings, Pat (Randy) Vandenberg, John (Carol) Hunt, and Ron (Marsha) Hunt, who shared countless memories and experiences with her.

In addition to her family, Pam leaves behind her two beloved four-legged companions, Dash and Penny, who were constant sources of joy and comfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Neva (Botkins) Hunt, and her brother, Jim Hunt. Pam's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, celebrated for her warmth, kindness, and the deep love she had for her family and dogs.
