Naomi “Nonnie” J. Rex, age 74, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Dowagiac. Born on January 25, 1952, in Niles, Michigan, she was the daughter of John H. and Wilma M. (Northrup) Goff.
Nonnie lived a life defined by simplicity, sincerity, and love. She found joy not in grand gestures, but in the everyday moments shared with the people she cherished. In 1998, she married Revialo “Rev” Rex, and together they created a home that became a haven for family and friends. Laughter echoed through their rooms, stories were passed around like treasured gifts, and everyone who walked through their door felt welcomed and valued. Rev’s passing in April 2018 left a space in her life, but the warmth they built together continued to shine through her.
One of Nonnie’s most beloved traditions was her daily 2:00 p.m. coffee gathering at her apartment. What began as a simple routine became a cherished ritual of friendship, conversation, and community. Those afternoons were filled with connection, comfort, and companionship — a small but meaningful joy she looked forward to each day.
Nonnie leaves behind her loving children: Billie (Victor) Eubanks, Howard Craig, Gene (Carley) Craig, Bobbie Craig, Johnny Craig, Kenneth (Aurora Hill) Craig, and Sonny (Joanna) Craig.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Terrance Eubanks, Jonathan Craig (Jayden Kline), Sadie Craig (Wyatt Qualls), Tyler Craig (Kai McGee), Audrey Craig, Aiden Craig, Hunter Hill, Samantha Craig, Elsie Morris, Boston Craig, and Sonny Joe Craig. She was also blessed with her great-granddaughter, Danielle Eubanks.
She is further survived by her siblings: Irene Clark, Kathy Smith, Mary Stokes, and Rex Goff, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Nonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Revialo Rex; her parents; her son, James R. Craig Jr.; her granddaughter, Danielle Janowsky; and her siblings Kenneth Goff, Sonny Goff, Robert Goff, and Anna Thomas.
Nonnie’s life was a gentle reminder that the simplest moments often become the most meaningful. Whether she was welcoming loved ones into her home, sharing her afternoon coffee, or spending time with her family, she made those around her feel seen, appreciated, and loved. Her kindness, her soft spirit, and the warmth she carried will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nonnie’s life during an open house style memorial luncheon on Saturday, August 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Stone Lake Woods Apartments, 335 W. State Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031. All who knew and loved her are encouraged to stop by, share a memory, enjoy fellowship, and honor a life beautifully lived.
