Nancy’s career journey reflected her strong work ethic and dedication. She managed establishments such as Schlotzsky’s and Arby’s before finding her true calling as a cafeteria cook for the Lakeview School District. Her role there was more than just a job; it was a way to nourish and care for countless students, a role she embraced wholeheartedly.
Known fondly among her many friends and family for her impeccable sense of style, Nancy had a charming habit of frequently changing outfits until she found just the right one, always managing to look well-dressed and polished. Her personality was a blend of loving stubbornness and kindness, ever ready to extend help to anyone in need, embodying a large and generous heart.
Nancy's passions extended beyond her work. She delighted in cooking, with her baked spaghetti and potato salad hailed as culinary treasures by all who were fortunate enough to taste them. Her love for gardening brought color and life to her surroundings, while her beloved animals—two dogs named Lucy and Ricky, and her cherished cats Brandon "AKA Bonesaw" and Fat Cat—were constant companions who brought immeasurable joy.
Nancy was a cherished partner of 15 years to Gary Ward, sharing a bond built on love and mutual respect. She is also survived by her brother, Kenny Farley; sister-in-law, Brenda Farley; niece, Michelle Headley; nephew, Bobby Ray Gardner and his wife Adria; as well as an extended network of family and many dear friends who will mourn her loss deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavern Robert Farley and Betty Jeanine (Herroon) Farley; her beloved son, Scott Robert Farley; sister, Linda Gardner; and brothers Paul and Phillip Farley. Their memories remain a lasting part of Nancy’s story.
Nancy L. Farley's life was one of compassion, strength, and warmth—a true reflection of a woman who lived with purpose and affection. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew and loved her. The community of Battle Creek mourns a remarkable woman whose presence brightened countless days through her cooking, her caring heart, and her unwavering spirit.
