Melvin Patrick LeBarre, a lifelong resident of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on November 30, 1967, Melvin was a proud graduate of Lakeview High School, Class of 1986. He dedicated his career to the automotive industry, where he served as a skilled welder and fabricator. His expertise and passion for his work were evident throughout his long-standing profession.
Known for his friendly disposition, Melvin cherished his family above all else. His caring nature and willingness to help others were integral to his character. He was the kind of person who would readily give anyone the shirt off his back, underscoring his selflessness and warmth in all his interactions.
Melvin had a profound interest in anything with wheels and a motor, which fueled his enthusiasm for NASCAR racing, particularly his admiration for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Beyond his professional life, Melvin took great pride in his home, where he enjoyed maintaining his yard and lawn—a testament to his love for nature and the outdoors.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah LeBarre (Gregory); stepdaughter, Jennifer Miller (Derrick Rathmann); grandchildren, Victoria Rathmann (Dominic Mix) and Jacob Rathmann; great-grandchild, Kolten Rathmann; mother-in-law, Ann Gregory; sister, Debbie (Michael) Wagner; sister-in-law, Teresa (Scott) Carter; brother-in-law, David Gregory; and brother-in-law, Mark (Sherri) Gregory. Melvin also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was one of four children, born to Melvin John LeBarre and Bonnie Jean (Terrel) LeBarre, both of whom have predeceased him.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Melvin's Life will be held at Battle Creek Community of Christ, located at 1405 West Territorial Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LeBarre Family, directed to his wife, Deborah, to assist with medical expenses.
As we mourn the loss of Melvin Patrick LeBarre, we remember him as a devoted family man, a generous friend, and a passionate automotive enthusiast. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
