Mary Jane Hinsey, née Lacopo, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, in Niles, Michigan. She was born on June 17, 1926, in South Bend, Indiana, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, a generous spirit, and an eye for the beauty and usefulness in everyday things.

On February 15, 1947, she married William Hinsey, and together they shared 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. Their life together was rooted in family and in the steady love that carried them through the years.

Mary will be remembered as a fantastic cook whose kitchen was surely a place of comfort and welcome. She enjoyed going to garage sales and thrift stores, and she had a special gift for seeing value in things that other people might not see. That same quality reflected her character so well: an ability to recognize worth, cherish simple pleasures, and make the most of what was before her.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Hinsey, Dennis (Marcy) Hinsey, and Gregg (Jenny) Hinsey; her grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Grace, and Emma; as well as 4 great grandchildren. She leaves behind a family who will carry forward her memory with love and gratitude, and who will remember the warmth, care, and lasting presence she brought to their lives.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Hinsey; her son, Paul Hinsey; and by an infant son, Charles.

Mary Jane Hinsey will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her life was one of enduring family love, simple joys, and a quiet appreciation for the treasures others might overlook.
