Mark Nelson Keyser, originally of Bay City, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.

Mark was an engineer by trade and a lifelong tinkerer at heart. He had a mind that was always working on the next great idea, imagining new possibilities and finding ways to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary. With a natural talent for creating and inventing, he could make amazing things out of just about anything. His curiosity, ingenuity, and ability to see potential where others might not made him a one-of-a-kind problem solver.

Mark was also someone who was always willing to lend a hand. He was a helpful presence in his community and generously shared his time, talents, and skills with neighbors and others who needed assistance. Whether fixing something, building something new, or simply offering help, he found ways to make a difference in the lives of those around him.

Beyond his workbench, Mark had a deep love for music. He enjoyed playing the drums and being part of a band, finding joy in the rhythm, energy, and camaraderie that music brought. He was also a devoted University of Michigan fan and loved spending time near the water and at the beach, where he could enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Mark was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Bea Keyser, and his parents, Ramona and Kenneth Keyser.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Danniell Mayhew, Andrea Fronsman, and Michael Keyser; his grandchildren, Ethan, Claire, Hazel, and Desmond; his sister, Kim Toler, to whom Mark was her hero; his niece, Heather Young; and Sheila Fassnacht, his ex-wife, who lovingly cared for him through the end of his life.

Mark leaves behind a legacy of creativity, resourcefulness, kindness, and a willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His inventive spirit, generous nature, and the memories he created with those he loved will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at: Freedom Bar and Grill 101 W. St. Joseph Street, Lawrence, MI 49064. Family and friends are welcome to gather, share memories, and celebrate Mark’s life.
