It is with greatest sorrow and deepest regret, that I inform you of the passing of our beloved, Maria Luisa Garcia.
Maria Luisa passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025. in Bangor, Mi. surrounded by her family and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her grandson; Oscar M. Martinez, Jr., her parents; Domingo and Lila Garcia, her nephew; Luis A. Flores.
She leaves behind her 3 children Manuel Muñoz, Rocio (Oscar) Martinez, and Sergio (Kimberly) Muñoz, and granddaughter Liliana M. Muñoz. She also leaves behind 3 sisters, 1 brother, and countless nieces and nephews.
Her presence will be greatly missed. Luisa was not just a mother with many titles, but a WOMAN, a human rights activist, a lover of life, a justice warrior, and a student of Christ. She always lived in the favor of the people, being present and supportive. A former migrant worker herself, she spent the majority of her later years interpreting, translating, and helping the Migrant Community, giving in any way she could. A deal seeker, a friend, a comedian, a keeper of current events who never turned down a good cup of coffee!
She was a woman ahead of her time. A woman who was not afraid to push against societies standards. She was a fearless woman, resourceful and resilient. If you didn’t see that about her, you missed out on who she truly was. Some of you may have known her as Maria or Luisa. But, those who knew her best knew her as, MaLu. A woman who lived her life in the balance of love, children, and self-pursuit. A woman who lived her life as much on her own terms and the world would allow.
A woman who has not passed on but has been reborn into the greatest adventure of her life. As my mom would always say, PTL (Praise the Lord) for she now resides in glory and joy alongside her Heavenly Father. May she Rest in Eternal Peace and Love.
I Love You More-MaLu
