Margaret JoAnne Spreitzer, an esteemed teacher, a loving wife, caring mother, and a cherished member of her community, passed from this world on October 29, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the age of 77. Born on October 6, 1948, in Allegan, Michigan, Margaret lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a passion for knowledge that touched countless lives.

Margaret’s journey in education began with her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Michigan University. She dedicated over twenty years of her life to teaching, primarily at Martin Elementary, where she nurtured the minds and hearts of her students through her unparalleled patience and guidance. Her extraordinary ability to connect with children made learning both enjoyable and rewarding, earning their affection and respect. Margaret's commitment extended beyond the classroom as she actively engaged in conducting science meetings and teachings for students after school, fostering a love for exploration and discovery in young minds.

In addition to her calling as an educator, Margaret possessed an insatiable curiosity and a deep love for reading, demonstrated by the expansive collection of books in her cherished library. She was a woman of intellectual vigor, enthralled by the world of politics, having once run for a seat in the House of Representatives, where her convictions and ideals shone brightly. Margaret found solace and joy in the great outdoors, relishing in gardening, camping, and fishing, embracing the beauty of nature as a profound source of inspiration.

Her vibrant spirit was complemented by her remarkable personality—pleasant, giving, understanding, and endlessly patient—qualities that endeared her to all who crossed her path. Margaret was not only a beloved teacher but also a devoted friend and family member, fostering connections that spanned generations.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Allan Chudek, and her son, Buddy Sasquach, who were the pride of her life. She also lovingly embraced her stepchildren—Shelly, Jeffery, Kelly, and Leanne—whose lives she touched with warmth and generosity. Margaret was a proud grandmother to Elijah and Finn (Lue) Molenaar, whose presence brought her immeasurable joy. Alongside them, she is mourned by her siblings and their spouses: Mary (Denny) Bower, Karl (Connie) Spreitzer, Jim (Kathy) Spreitzer, Fritz (Linda) Spreitzer, Matt (Denise) Spreitzer, Lilly Teed, Marisa (Ron) Stull, and Peter Spreitzer. Each of them will carry her memory in their hearts. Additionally, Margaret's legacy will be cherished by her 22 nieces and nephews, who will remember her for the love and kindness she imparted throughout her life.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved son, Jason Edward Franklin, whose memory remained a source of quiet strength throughout her life. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anne Spreitzer, who instilled in her the values of education and compassion that she carried throughout her life. As her family gathers to celebrate her life, they reflect on the profound impact she made as an educator, a champion for justice, and a beacon of love and support.

The essence of Margaret JoAnne Spreitzer will live on through the laughter of children she inspired, the knowledge she imparted, and the enduring love of her family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
