Lisa Bass Pitre passed away surrounded by her family on the early morning of June 15th. She is survived by her son, Dalton Pitre (Margaret Byers), and her daughter, Kenleigh Pitre (Jackie Sila-Price), along with her 7-year-old grandson, AJ Price. She is also survived by her sister and brothers—Dawn, Kent, and Larry—along with their spouses. Some of her biggest cheerleaders were her nieces and nephews: Shannon, Brandon, Christy, Tonia, Michelle, Tony, and especially Rachel, who was by her side until the end.
Everyone who knew Lisa was aware not only of how stubborn she was, but also that she was hands down the strongest woman you would ever meet. Despite that, she wasn’t blessed with a strong heart or kidneys. A big heart, yes—one known to give you the shirt off her back, even if it left her with nothing. She was the most selfless individual anyone ever had the privilege of knowing. She was humble and wouldn’t be comfortable with all of this being said—but that’s perfectly okay.
Lisa lived for her two children and for being on a horse. Her horse, JD, was her best friend and close companion for five years. Lisa did not want a funeral, and we will respect those wishes. The only time she wanted attention on herself was when she was on a horse in the show ring. We will be holding a Celebration of Life, with details to follow on my Facebook under Kenleigh Afton. Lisa’s Facebook will remain active so you can post memories as you wish.
Please don’t come with sad tears—she didn’t want her passing to be sorrowful or a burden. She wants to be remembered for the good times. Family First Funeral and Cremation Services will be handling everything. There will not be a viewing—again, Lisa didn’t like to be the center of attention. I will give as much notice as possible for the Celebration of Life, which will take place at the Eaton County Fairgrounds. Date to be determined.
