Kevin Duane Rimes, a devoted husband, beloved brother, and cherished friend, passed away on June 18, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the age of 65. Born on July 24, 1959, in Sturgis, Michigan, Kevin lived a life rich with love, laughter, and adventure. He owned a successful painting company, where his meticulous nature shone through in every stroke and shade.
For 35 wonderful years, Kevin shared his life with his loving wife, Tina Marie Rimes, 25 of which were spent as a married couple. Their journey began at Larry and Robin's wedding, where Kevin proudly stood as a groomsman. As they spent more time together after that day, their friendship blossomed into love. From there, they embarked on countless adventures—exploring the majestic mountains of Colorado, reveling in the vibrant atmosphere of Nashville, Tennessee, basking in the sun on the shores of the Emerald Coast in Destin, Florida, strolling the quiet beaches of North Captiva Island, and enjoying serene retreats in Cabo. Each journey deepened their bond, filled with shared experiences that will forever thrive in the hearts of those who knew them.
Kevin's personality was as vibrant and multi-faceted as his travels. With a sharp sense of humor and a heart full of kindness, he was a protector of his family, always ready to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. He was known for being a smartass with no filter—but he carried it with such natural class that people couldn’t help but laugh and love him for it. Known for being neat and tidy, Kevin took great pride in his home and his lawn, spending countless hours nurturing it to perfection. His meticulousness extended beyond the lawn—it was part of who he was: a man with a big heart wrapped in a playful exterior.
In the summer, you would often find Kevin out on the boat, soaking in the sunshine and embracing the peaceful rhythm of life on the water. The lake was his sanctuary—a place where he could relax, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors with those he loved most.
His passions were many—he stood proudly as a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, cheering unyieldingly for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers during every game. Kevin was not just a sports enthusiast; he also relished the joys of hunting, golf, and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Duane Rimes and Zoe Marie DeCraene, but his legacy lives on through his loving wife, Tina; his sister, Kimberly (Tommy) Klein; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, John, Larry (Robin) Leach, April (Ken) Lebeda, Brenda Leach, and Angela Leach. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, including Brock, Zoey (Drew), Brandie (Dan), Heath (Cassandra), Amber (Ryan), Donald (Jamie), Danielle Phillips, and Jadin Wolfe; as well as a great nephew, Zephyr, and many other family members and friends who will forever treasure the joyful memories shared with him.
Kevin's spirit continues to inspire those who had the privilege to know him. His remarkable journey has left an indelible mark on all of our hearts, reminding us what it means to love deeply, laugh generously, and live life to the fullest. As we come together to celebrate his life, we remember Kevin not just for his accomplishments but for the radiant joy he brought to our lives.
