Kevin Lee Poole, age 60, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

He was born July 12, 1965, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of the late Suzanne Williams (Roger) and Herbert “Bud” Poole (Diana).

Kevin always had a very curious mind and spent much of his time trying to learn new things. He enjoyed watching documentaries and reading books on various topics, especially about nature and history. He taught himself computer coding and how to build computers piece by piece. Before his health complications, you could almost always find him at his computer desk working on one of his many computers.

An important part of Kevin’s life was his children. He taught them more than he probably ever knew. He taught them to work hard and showed them strength, even if sometimes it came in ways they had to learn to understand on their own. Some of the lessons came through words, others through watching him live his life — both the good parts and the hard parts. Resilience, drive, and the ability to stand on their own were shaped in part by watching him.

When his health began to deteriorate and a doctor explained that the prognosis was not good, Kevin responded, “The only thing that I’ve ever wanted out of life was to see my children succeed. They’ve all grown into strong, independent adults that are doing well for themselves, so I can die happy.”

Kevin is survived by his four children, Jacob S. Poole, Alyssa S. Poole (Steven Hoffman), Anthony L. Poole, and Timothy M. Poole; six grandchildren, Makayla E. Poole, Jordyn L. Poole, Leon R. Hoffman, Kinsley R. Poole, Dominic D. Poole, and Isabella L. Poole; his sister, Judi Capman (Mike); brother-in-law, Donald Jenkins Jr.; nieces, Qiana LeBoeuf (Brent) and Shannen Wilkens; nephew, Jason Rond (Miranda); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Tobias; his sister, Patricia “Biggy” Jenkins; and his nephews, Michael Jenkins and Shawn Rond.

The family would like to express their gratitude to The Laurels of Bedford and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Kevin during the last few months of his life. A special thank you to Molly Bailey, NP-C, for always treating Kevin like he was part of your family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Kevin’s memory to Companion Cats, in honor of his love for animals, 29 Hoag St., Battle Creek, MI 49014. Donations may also be made online at https://www.companioncats.com/donation/
