Katherine “Kathy” Grace Hermenitt, lovingly known as Kathy, passed away on September 24, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born on December 22, 1963, in Kalamazoo, and throughout her life she became someone deeply loved by those around her. Known for her caring heart, her passion for people, and her desire to help others, Kathy left a lasting impression on family, friends, and her community.

Kathy was a woman whose warmth drew people in. Everyone loved her, and she was affectionately known in the Parchment schools as “Nana,” a name that reflected the comfort, kindness, and love she shared so naturally. She was always spreading the love of Jesus, and that faith shone through in the way she lived and cared for others each day.

She found joy in life’s meaningful moments and simple pleasures. Kathy loved crafting, and she treasured traveling with her husband, Bryan, up north to the Mackinaw area and over the bridge. Those trips held a special place in her heart, as did visits to Shipshewana, where she enjoyed listening to the “clickety-clacks,” as she fondly called them. These were the moments that brought her happiness and became cherished memories for those who shared them with her.

One of the great blessings of Kathy’s life was her marriage to Bryan Hermenitt. The two were married on September 30, 2006, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and together they built a life marked by love, companionship, and shared adventures.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Bryan Hermenitt; her daughter, Krystal Hunter; and her sons, Anthony Ostindie and Justin Key. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Nariah "Boots", Mya, Rylinn, Audrie, Erin, and Bryson, each of whom was part of the family circle she held so dear. She is also survived by her siblings, Gerry Burnham, Gary Burnham, Eric Burnham, and Annette Burnham, who remain among those carrying her memory forward with love.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gordy Burnham, and by her parents, Gordy and Constance Burnham.

A memorial service for Kathy will be held on September 30, 2026, beginning 4:30 p.m. at gracespring Bible Church, 8643 Gull Rd, Richland, Michigan 49083.

Kathy’s life was a gift to many. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, her faith, her joy in being with others, and the gentle, generous way she moved through the world. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her and loved her.
