Karl Richard Kendall, 85, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2026. He was born on May 7, 1940, in LeCenter, Minnesota, to Roy and Dorothy Kendall. Karl grew up in Bemidji, where he graduated from Bemidji High School in 1958, where he excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court.

On June 14, 1958, Karl married Linda Johnson, beginning a partnership that would span 68 years. They raised their three daughters—Karla, Kelly, and Lori—in Bemidji until 1972, when Karl accepted a position with Enbridge Pipeline and the family relocated to Marshall, Michigan. A talented, self‑taught welder, Karl worked as a pipeline welder for Enbridge until his retirement in 1997.

Karl was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life. He loved hunting and fishing, often traveling to Minnesota, Montana, and Canada to spend time with his brothers and close friends—sharing stories, enjoying a drink, and reliving the tales of “the one that got away.” In his later years, he became a passionate turkey hunter, always returning from his part‑time home in Arizona in time for Michigan’s opening day. He also took great joy in watching and tracking the backyard wildlife that frequented his homes in both Michigan and Arizona.

Karl and Linda enjoyed traveling together, taking many trips across the United States and abroad. Australia held a special place in his heart, and he often dreamed of retiring there. Known for his easy conversation and friendly nature, Karl made connections wherever he went. He was a devoted NRA member and a lifetime member of Marshall Moose Lodge 676.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy Kendall, and his brother, Allyn Kendall.

Karl is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Karla (Gary) Bennett, Kelly (Kevin) Campbell, and Lori Kendall; grandchildren Joshua Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Erin Campbell, and Sara (Kyle Gebraad) Campbell; and great‑grandchildren Harper, Silas, Arlo, Owen, and Iris Bennett. He is also survived by his brothers Lloyd Kendall and Bruce Kendall, along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial event will be held later in the year.
