John “Skip” Maxson, passed from this life to his eternal home with Christ on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 80.

Skip was born in Jackson, Michigan, on December 8, 1945, to John and Betty Jane (Eash) Maxson.

Skip married Debra (McClure) Lapham on February 3, 2001, at Greenfield Village, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; one brother, Chris (Judy) Crisenberry; daughter, Karri (Michael) Kernohan; two sons, John (Jennifer) and Gregory (Jessica) Maxson; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 2 step-children, Jason (Kathleen) Lapham; Heather and her significant other, Christopher Ryan; and numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold.

He was a faithful member of Thornhill Baptist Church. He spent many years volunteering for the Southern Baptist Convention of Michigan on Disaster Relief missions.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Thornhill Baptist Church (4560 S. Meridian Rd., Hudson, Michigan 49247) or Baptist State Convention of Michigan – designated to the Disaster Relief Fund (41100 Plymouth Rd., Suite B1-315, Plymouth, Michigan 48170).
