John “Skip” Maxson passed from this life to his eternal home with Christ on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 80.

Skip was born in Jackson, Michigan, on December 8, 1945, to John and Betty Jane (Eash) Maxson.

Skip married Debra (McClure) Lapham on February 3, 2001, at Greenfield Village, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; one brother, Chris (Judy) Crisenberry; daughter, Karri (Michael) Kernohan; two sons, John (Jennifer) and Gregory (Jessica) Maxson; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step-children, Jason (Kathleen) Lapham and Heather and her significant other, Christopher Ryan; along with numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold.

Skip was a faithful member of Thornhill Baptist Church. He spent many years volunteering for the Southern Baptist Convention of Michigan on Disaster Relief missions.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Thornhill Baptist Church, 4560 South Meridian Road, Hudson, MI 49247. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Daniel Pann.

Memorial contributions may be given to Thornhill Baptist Church (4560 South Meridian Road, Hudson, MI 49247) or to the Baptist State Convention of Michigan, designated to the Disaster Relief Fund (41100 Plymouth Road, Suite B1-315, Plymouth, MI 48170).
