John R. Lagerwey, born on March 28, 1963, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, tragically passed away on January 8, 2026, in Paw Paw, Michigan, due to a house fire. 

John is remembered for his profound love of the outdoors, particularly his enjoyment of working on the pond situated on his brother's property. It was here that he found solace and joy, nurturing the beauty of nature around him. His connection to the earth and his commitment to cultivating his surroundings exemplified not just a pastime, but a way of life that resonated deeply with those who knew him.

He was a father to two sons, John Call and Bradley Call, who carry on his legacy; grandfather to Savannah Call, Matthew Call, and Bryan Call. Their laughter and innocence brought him joy, and he cherished the moments spent with them.

John is also survived by his loving siblings: George (Shannon Greenleaf) Clark, Dawn (Dennis) Coppock, Chris (Allen) Coppock, and Denise (Richard) Bowman. Together, they shared countless memories.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lagerwey and Linda Clark.  Additionally, he was accompanied in spirit by his beloved dog, Bella, who passed away alongside him. The bond they shared was a testament to the love he held for all creatures great and small.
