Joan Moquist, 66, of Calhoun County, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, under hospice care at Ely Manor in Allegan, Michigan. She was born on November 13, 1959, in Homer, Michigan, and remained deeply connected to her roots in Homer and the Calhoun County area throughout her life.

Joan was a woman who could best be described as funny, loving, and deeply family oriented, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren. She had a sense of humor that could brighten a room and a personality that made those closest to her feel loved, even in the quietest moments.

Short and sweet, just as she was, Joan appreciated life in her own way. She valued her alone time and found comfort in simply being herself. She also had a love for heavy metal music, especially Slipknot, proving she carried a spirit all her own.

Family meant everything to Joan. She carried love for her children throughout her life and cherished the memories, laughter, and moments shared with them.

Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennette Dyer, in 2021; her son, Jason Moquist, in 2025; and her adopted parents, Dorothea and Carl Moquist.

She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Alex Boyle and Ana’Lynn Dyer; her lifelong friend since elementary school, Sheila Schmitt (Ronald); her cousin, Jacqueline Johnson; and many friends and loved ones who knew and cared for her throughout her life.

Joan’s memory will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love she leaves behind with those who knew her best.
