Joan E. Doxey, 93, of Gobles, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Kalamazoo. She was born on October 27, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Joan was a lifelong farm girl whose love of country life stayed with her throughout the years. Growing up, she had ponies, and her affection for animals remained a constant part of her life. She especially loved her horses and her dog, Thea. She attended Bloomingdale High School in her youth and later worked for many years at Allen's Test Products, where she was part of the manufacturing of auto test equipment.

She met her husband, Clare Doxey, at the local roller rink, beginning a marriage that would become a central part of her life. Joan and Clare were married on November 4, 1949. She will be remembered as a strong, patient, and loving woman whose steady presence meant so much to those around her.

Joan found happiness in simple pleasures and faithful friendships. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards with her friends, known as “The Church Ladies.” Whether caring for animals, spending time with friends, or sharing life with her family, she brought warmth and devotion to the people and places she loved.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Reidt and Connie (Bob) Weaver, who carry forward her memory with love; daughter-in-law, Christine J. Doxey; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Doxey; her sons, Terry Doxey, David Doxey, and Mark Doxey; her great-grandson, Colin Wilcoxson; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Doxey.

Joan’s life was marked by love for her family, dedication to her work, and a deep enjoyment of the everyday blessings that filled her days. She will be remembered with affection and gratitude by those who knew her.
