Jeffrey Ryan Scott, born March 20, 1967, in St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2025, with his husband, Dan Davis, by his side. His final moments were quiet and filled with the steady love that shaped his life.

Jeffrey grew up in Michigan, where his early years nurtured his curiosity, independence, and deep connection to animals and the outdoors. His path later led him to Washington, D.C., where he earned his Associate’s Degree in American Sign Language from Gallaudet University, reflecting his commitment to communication, understanding, and inclusivity.

Life eventually brought Jeffrey to Houston, Texas, where a chance meeting at a gym on November 27, 2000, changed everything. That day he met Dan, the person who would become his closest companion and the center of his world. Their partnership grew through humor, loyalty, and shared adventures, and they were officially married on August 4, 2015.

Jeffrey had a remarkable intuition with animals—especially dogs. He often said he understood them better than people, and anyone who watched him work with a dog could see the truth in that. Dogs trusted him instantly, and he returned that trust with patience, gentleness, and a natural handler’s instinct. Parrots also fascinated him, their intelligence and personality sparking endless curiosity.

Jeffrey loved movies more than music, and he found comfort and joy in the stories, characters, and humor that filled his screen. Cher and The Golden Girls were longtime favorites, offering laughter, familiarity, and a sense of connection that stayed with him throughout his life. He also cherished the beauty of National Parks, where he and Dan spent many days hiking, exploring, and finding calm in wide open spaces.

Jeffrey lived with authenticity and heart. He cared deeply, loved fully, and moved through the world with sincerity. His humor, his stubborn streak, his tenderness with animals, and his unwavering devotion to Dan will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his husband, Dan Davis, along with family, friends, and the many four‑legged companions whose lives he touched.

Jeffrey’s presence will be felt in the trails he walked, the animals he guided, the films he loved, and the people who carry his memory forward.
