Jeanne Marie DeSenzio, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Joseph, Michigan, on April 27, 2026. Born on March 2, 1930, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Jeanne lived a life full of joy, generosity, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Jeanne was universally adored for her radiant smile—one that was genuinely infectious—and her keen sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her bubbly personality and sparkling blue eyes were hallmarks of a woman who embraced life fully and shared her exuberance with all. She carried an innate warmth that drew people to her, making every interaction memorable and meaningful.

An active and vivacious soul, Jeanne delighted in roller skating, an activity she pursued passionately into her late eighties. Ballroom dancing was another of her loves, providing a graceful outlet for her energy and enthusiasm. She had an unwavering love of chocolate, a small joy that always sweetened her days. Beyond her own enjoyment, she devoted her time to volunteering at the hospital, selflessly giving to others with kindness and compassion. Cards, especially Bridge, were a favored pastime, where she found both challenge and camaraderie. Jeanne’s beloved cottage stood as her sanctuary, a place she treasured deeply and where she welcomed family and friends to share in its peace and beauty. Always mindful of the needs of others, Jeanne would carry a spare leash and treats, ready to assist any stray dog she might encounter, reflecting her boundless kindness even to the smallest creatures.

Jeanne’s family remembers her as a pillar of love and strength. She is survived by her son, Don DeSenzio, and his wife Patty, her daughter-in-law, Tonda DeSenzio, as well as her four grandchildren: Armando (Jamie) DeSenzio, Adrianne (Kevin) DeSenzio, Allison (Travis) Hedgepatch, and Katie (Darrell) Lefon. Her legacy continues through her nine great-grandchildren—Zaylee, Alexis, Kasen, Garrett, Lily, Lincoln, Jordyn, Emmett, Lucian, and Henry—who bring joy and pride to the family with every new generation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel Sisson; her husband, Raymond DeSenzio; her son, Scott DeSenzio; her brothers, Paul and Bob DeSenzio; and her half-siblings, Don, Marjorie and Eileen. The profound loss of these dear family members is felt deeply, yet Jeanne’s enduring spirit and the memories she created remain a source of comfort and inspiration.

Jeanne's life was a testament to love, laughter, and resilience. Her presence made the world a better place, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the gifts of kindness, joy, and a shining spirit that she so freely shared. The family is planning a memorial in June at her beloved cottage and encourage checking Facebook for updates.
