Jason Gerald Cypret, a man with an extraordinary talent as an auto painter and hand-drawn pinstriping artist, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on September 10, 1976, in Jackson, Michigan, Jason’s life was marked by a dedication to his craft and a personality that was both meticulous and deeply loyal.

From an early age, Jason exhibited a distinctive character, often punctuated by his signature habit of pulling his socks up to his knees — a small quirk that brought laughter to those who knew him well. His childhood was filled with family vacations and camping trips, moments that he treasured deeply. Like many children of his era, he delighted in riding his bike for hours and playing Nintendo. His fondness for action and ninja movies was a testament to his spirited and imaginative nature.

As an adult, Jason’s perfectionism and particularity shone through in every stroke of his brush. His work on custom vehicles and motorcycles was more than a profession; it was his passion. He approached each project with a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Yet beyond his professional achievements, Jason was known for his great sense of humor and the captivating stories he shared, each usually concluding with his signature phrase, “Long story short.” His storytelling brought joy and connection to those around him. He also had a love for dogs, especially the ones he cared for over the years as loyal companions.

Jason faced and battled many inner demons throughout his life, yet in his final days he found peace and acceptance through faith in Jesus. This brought a meaningful sense of closure to his journey and reflected the depth and complexity of his life.

He is survived by his siblings Nicole (Dale) Harris, Aaron (Brea Arredondo) Cypret, and Todd (Lori) Cypret; his nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, Austin, Liam, and Cody; and his great-niece, Raelynn. His family and friends were central to his life, and he valued every moment spent in their company.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nancy Cypret; Cecil Wallace; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

His legacy is one of artistry, perseverance, humor, loyalty, and love. Jason will be remembered not only for the beauty he created but also for the warmth, stories, and spirit he brought into the lives of so many. His presence will be greatly missed and his memory forever honored.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 22, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Concord Youth Center, 155 Grove Street, Concord, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Jason’s life together.
