James A. Owens, lovingly known as Jim, passed away on November 2, 2026, in Flint, Michigan. He was born on November 23, 1951, in Flint, a city that remained part of his story throughout his life. Jim served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by his daughter, Breannah (Alex) Bess and their two sons . He is also survived by his sisters, Jacqueline Owens, Priscilla (Gary) Tate, and Lynette (Bo) McMillan.

He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Owens and stepmother, Marie; his mother,  Evah G. Burgess Way and his stepfather, Ralph.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Gunnerfeldt and Linda Owens.

Jim’s memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
