Helen Jean Perkins

Helen Jean Perkins, affectionately known as Jean, was born on October 8, 1941, and left this world on September 30, 2025. She graced the lives of those around her with her warm and inviting spirit, making heartfelt connections with family and friends that will forever be cherished.

Jean was a social butterfly, her laughter and kindness echoing through every gathering. She found her joy in the company of loved ones, whether it was at family gatherings or spontaneous outings with friends. Her vivacious personality was particularly evident when she indulged in her favorite pastimes; she often enjoyed exploring nature while metal detecting at the lake or campground, where she spent many blissful seasons.

One of her adored adventures was frequenting the casino, where she forged lasting friendships amidst the thrill of the games. On days when she could not make the trip herself, her beloved son Tony would graciously accompany her, ensuring that her passion for the casino remained alive in her heart. It is in these moments where the beautiful bond between mother and son shone brightly.

Jean also found solace in the peaceful visits from birds, particularly hummingbirds—her favorite feathered friends. She nurtured her love for nature with an array of houseplants that brought vibrancy and life into her home. Each plant told a story, just as every gathering with Jean created memories to be treasured.

A cherished retreat for Jean was her camper at the seasonal campground. Here, surrounded by nature’s beauty, friends would gather, sharing laughter and spirited games of euchre. Her son John frequently joined these easygoing moments, reinforcing the bonds of family while enjoying the great outdoors.

Jean shared her passion for metal detecting with her dear friend Bonnie, creating a friendship built on shared exploration and profound camaraderie. Together, they discovered treasures and shared stories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew them.

She is survived by her loving sons, Tony (Shelley) Perkins and John Perkins, as well as her brother Jim (Linda) Dawson and sister-in-law Karen Dawson. Jean's legacy is enriched by numerous family members and friends whose lives she impacted with her gentle heart and infectious spirit.

Preceding her in death were her cherished parents, Darwin and Myrtle Dawson, and her brother, Tom Dawson, who now welcome her with open arms in eternal peace.
