Greg began his professional journey at the age of 18 with Graphic Packaging, where he dedicated an impressive 42 years of service. Known for his punctuality, efficiency, and steadfast commitment to excellence, Greg took great pride in his work. His efforts were driven by a deep sense of responsibility and devotion to providing for his family. Over the decades, he created memories that remained close to his heart long after his retirement.
Outside the workplace, Greg led a life rich with curiosity and connection. He was known for his gregarious nature and sharp intellect. His expansive vocabulary and quick wit made conversations with him both engaging and memorable. Through self-deprecating humor and candid dialogue, he formed meaningful bonds with those around him. Beneath his tough exterior was a kind and generous spirit that shone through to those who truly knew him. Greg had a wide array of passions that brought joy and color to his life. He was an avid consumer of newspapers and television, with a particular love for Western films and football—especially anything involving Tom Brady. Sundays were reserved for NASCAR races, which he followed with great enthusiasm. A connoisseur of good food, Greg especially enjoyed Mexican cuisine and appreciated a fine whiskey shared in good company. Northern Michigan held a special place in Greg’s heart. He cherished time spent with family in Traverse City and found solace on the open road, he often drove simply for the pleasure it brought him. Music was another enduring passion; he took great pride in his extensive record collection filled with timeless classics spanning genres.
Above all else, Greg valued time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Karin Haley; daughters Allison Haley-Brown (Darrahyl Brown), Melissa Baker (Sean Baker), and Chesney Simone-Hack (Chris Hack); sons Alex Haley (Katie Haley) and Greg P. Haley; and grandchildren Winston Brown, Stella Brown, Aleyah Weierbach-Brown, Jaiden Anderson (Stratton), Angelina Baker, Hunter Baker, Evelyn Haley, Ashton Hack, Isabella Hack, Luca Haley, and Sophia Haley and one great-grandchild, Sarijah Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his son Tim Stratton and his beloved black lab Bo. His legacy endures through the stories shared around dinner tables, the music echoing from well-loved records played once more, and the lasting values he passed on to those who knew him best.
