Glenna Hersey was born on September 8, 1949, in Ionia, Michigan, and passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, while in the care of her daughter, Laura.

Glenna spent many years in Ithaca, Michigan, where she built a life that reflected who she was. She had a steady faith, a kind way about her, and a sense of humor that stayed with her through the years.

She found comfort in simple routines. For a long time, Tuesdays meant a trip to Walmart to pick out the newest movie releases. Over the years, those trips turned into a collection of thousands of DVDs and favorite television series. It was something she looked forward to and something that filled her home.

She also collected porcelain figurines of the Royal Family, each one placed with care. She loved birds and, over the years, kept both small finches and large parrots. Her home and yard reflected her personality, filled with animals, decorations, and her well known eight foot Bigfoot statue that stood on her front deck and welcomed anyone who stopped by.

Glenna enjoyed traveling when she could, staying within the United States, but she always held onto the hope of one day visiting England.

She is survived by her children, Rachel Stark, Amanda (Karl Steinebach) Higbee, Laura (Mike) Forcum, and Jessie (Doug) Billings, and her stepson, Nathan Hersey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jesse (Cayla), Ragen, Magen, Chloe, Douglas, and Mallorie, and her great grandchild, Rosealie. She leaves behind her siblings, Dennis (Yvonne) Higbee, Juanita (Ron) Miller, Dee (Mike) Geister, Harry (Joni) Miller, and her brother in law, Jim Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Higbee and Maxine Higbee (Emmons), her husband, Timothy Hersey, who passed in 2010, and her sister, Leigh Robinson, who passed in 2020.

Glenna will be remembered for the life she created, the things she loved, and the memories she leaves behind with those who knew her.

Cremation has been entrusted to Family First Funeral & Cremation Services. No services have been scheduled at this time.
