Faye Louise Schmidt, a beacon of love and light, left this world on July 5, 2025, at Borgess Hospital. Born on January 31, 1937, in Flowerfield Township, Faye lived a life defined by compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication to others.

Throughout her life, Faye gravitated toward roles that allowed her to care deeply and serve selflessly. Whether working as a healthcare aide or a healthcare housekeeper, she brought tenderness, dignity, and a quiet strength to every task. Her work was never just a job—it was an extension of her heart. She chose professions rooted in service because they mirrored the way she cared for her own family: with patience, kindness, and an open heart.

Faye’s nurturing spirit wasn’t confined to the workplace. At home, she was the steady center of her family’s world—a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her life was a testament to the beauty of everyday acts of care, and her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her gentle presence.

Faye was known for her loving spirit and her incredible knack for spreading happiness. She was a devoted mother to her children, LuAnn Mumford and Perry Schmidt, and a beloved grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Michael Mumford, and Karen (Jason) Martzall. Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren, Cambirlyn, Kyleigh, Sarah Faye, and Isabella, all of whom were the light of her life. With a heart that was truly nurturing, Faye’s proudest accomplishment was being a positive and caring influence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Family outings were a cherished tradition for Faye, and she created countless treasured memories camping with loved ones at Hemlock Lake. Faye and her husband, Leo E. Schmidt, shared their love for the camping and creating memories with family and friends. Their bond was not only an inspiration to their children but also a testament to a deeply loving, close relationship that others admired. Faye’s love for bonfires at the campsite, sitting beneath the stars with good friends, and sharing delightful dinners while playing euchre will forever remain etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.

Faye's warmth and gentle nature earned her a special place in the lives of all who crossed her path. She was always ready with open arms to give a hug, to share a smile, and to brighten the day of everyone around her.

In remembering Faye, we celebrate not just her life but also the embodiment of love, caring, and joy she imparted to her family and community. While her physical presence may be gone, the memories of her kindness and her beautiful spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Faye Louise Schmidt will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy of love will live on through the generations she so deeply cherished.
