Esther Elaine Walters, a cherished resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026. Born on June 8, 1955, in Kalamazoo, she lived a life marked by resilience, independence, and devotion to her family.

Esther was a woman of action—a true go-getter who approached life with determination and clarity. Her straightforward nature meant she valued brevity and getting right to the heart of matters, a trait that endeared her to many who appreciated her honesty and efficiency. Throughout her career, she applied this same spirit, retiring from Wells Aluminum and also contributing her skills and green thumb at Quality Greenhouse. Her love for cultivating flowers and making the house a home was evident in the vibrant gardens she nurtured and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere she created for family and friends.

Her adventurous spirit drove her to embrace new experiences and travel, always seeking to broaden her horizons. One of Esther’s proudest accomplishments was the hands-on work she did alongside her husband, Anthony, in refurbishing their home—hanging trusses and laying shingles—as a testament to her practical skill and tireless dedication.

Her relationship with Anthony was both a romantic and enduring friendship. The two first met in junior high and, many years later, rekindled their connection through work, eventually becoming loving partners. Together, they forged a life filled with love and mutual respect.

Esther’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Walters; her children, Sandy, Cassy, Angela, and Charlie; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought joy to her life. She also leaves behind a large circle of siblings—Dave, Brian, Craig, Kevin, Art, Ellie, Diney, Denise, and Emma.

Her life was touched by painful losses, including her daughter Becky, and two premature infants, as well as her parents, whose memories she carried with quiet strength.

Esther was a soul who embraced life’s challenges and joys with fortitude and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and steadfast woman who left a lasting impression through her kindness, resilience, and unwavering spirit.
