Ernie Rose, a devoted pastor, respected community member, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 31, 1948, in High Splint, Kentucky, and dedicated his life to serving others through his faith and compassion.

With an unwavering commitment to his spiritual calling, Ernie spent 45 years in pastoral ministry. He began his career as an assistant pastor in various churches in the Kalamazoo area before moving to Battle Creek in 1993. There, he first served as the pastor of a Baptist Church before becoming the pastor of New Life Church and Ministries. His work extended beyond the pulpit, as he also contributed his talents to the 700 Club, touching the lives of many through his outreach efforts.

As an Army veteran, Ernie exemplified the values of service and dedication not only in his ministry but also in his time in the military. His commitment to his community and the principles he stood for left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his spiritual life, Ernie was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. A gun enthusiast, he also took pride in making his own bullets, enjoying the challenges and skills that these hobbies required.

Ernie shared a deep and loving partnership with his wife, Jerilee, whom he married on June 18, 1994, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Together they created a warm and nurturing home filled with love for their family. His legacy continues through his six children: Darla Rose, Jeremiah Rose, Sarah Mullins, and Ernie (Twyla) Rose, as well as his two stepdaughters, Jennifer (Nick) Glenn and Michelle Lake. He was also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he is survived by his two sisters, Nikka Glenna and Tommi Rose.

Ernie’s parents, Elmer and Faye (Williams) Rose, along with three siblings—Rudy, Sherry, and Wanda-Gay—preceded him in death, leaving behind a family that carries forward his spirit and values.

While we mourn the loss of Ernie, we also celebrate his life—a life dedicated to faith, family, and service to others. His legacy will remain in the hearts of those he influenced and loved throughout his journey. A military graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 2:30pm at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd. Augusta, MI 49012.
