Edward Mark Sawicki, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Laurels of Galesburg. Born on February 7, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, Ed was the son of the late Edward Ralph Sawicki and the late Colette Faye Hishock. He lived a life marked by craftsmanship, adventure, and deep devotion to family.

A passionate outdoorsman, Ed found joy and purpose in nature. His love of hunting was more than a pastime—it was a way of life. He earned recognition in the Fred Trost Trophy Book and appeared on the associated television show, a testament to his skill and dedication. One of his proudest achievements, a state trophy buck, remains on display in his daughter’s home, surrounded by other prized white-tail deer mounts that speak to a lifetime of memorable hunts.

Ed was a gifted carpenter, known for his ability to build just about anything with precision and care. His talents extended beyond woodworking—he also ran his own painting company for a time and later retired from Plymouth-Canton Schools, where he left a legacy of hard work and reliability.

He is lovingly remembered by his ex-wife, Dallie Sawicki; his only daughter, Melissa Sawicki; and his sister, Debrah Les. Ed’s spirit lives on through his granddaughters, Bailey Marie Takach-Sawicki and Alexandria Lei Juckett, and his great-granddaughter, Kinsley Page, who brought him immense pride and joy.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved son, Edward Allen Sawicki; his parents, Edward Ralph Sawicki and Colette “Faye” McNinch (Hishock); and his brothers, Dennis Sawicki and Allen Sawicki.

Those who knew Ed will remember his quiet strength, his craftsmanship, and his deep connection to the natural world. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the stories shared around campfires, and in the enduring legacy of the life he built.
