Edward James Knauss, a dedicated and adventurous spirit, passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 2, 1946, Edward was a man of many talents and pursuits, living a life filled with passion, integrity, and love.

Edward's career spanned various fields, showcasing his versatility and commitment to serving others. He enjoyed his journey as a pilot mechanic and boat captain, roles that required both skill and a sense of adventure. Subsequently, he served as a police officer for Citrus County, dedicating himself to the safety and well-being of his community. In addition, Edward spent six years running a diving business called Crystal River Manatee Dive & Tour in Florida, where he was able to share his love of the water with others. He also worked within the Kalamazoo public schools, where he was affectionately known as "Big Mean Eddie" in maintenance, a role that highlighted both his hard work and his larger-than-life presence.

His military service saw him stationed in Germany and Thailand for four years, experiences that contributed to his well-rounded character and deep respect for his country.

A lover of the outdoors, Edward found great joy in camping, fishing, and riding his side by side on trails, he also loved riding his Harley. He cherished moments spent at Sugarloaf Lake, where he cultivated a love for nature. Trail riding in the Manistee National Forest was a favorite weekend pastime, embodying his adventurous spirit and love for exploration.

Edward had a deep and meaningful relationship with Angel, whom he met in Baldwin. Their bond, which began on August 3, 2019, grew ever stronger, culminating in a heartfelt proposal on October 23, 2025. Together, they shared their lives with a beloved chihuahua mix named Harley, who brought joy and companionship to their household.

He is survived by his Fiancée Angel Williams, and seven cherished grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience. Additionally he is survived by many other family and friends. 

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Knauss and Helen Knauss, whose influence shaped the man he became. Additionally Edward was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Knauss, and grandson Shawn Owens.

Edward James Knauss will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the warmth and kindness he brought to all those fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on in the legacy of love he built with his family and friends.
