Dennis Mitchell Winsett, born on June 6, 1944, went to be with the Lord at the age of 80 on June 3, 2025. He was a Godly man and loved the Lord. He was a true example of a Christian and talked about the Lord with whomever he could. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was a remarkable mentor, friend and neighbor. He walked with integrity as he lived out the scriptures and strove to be more Christ-like in thought and action.
He and his wife Ingrid spent their life ministering and serving together through counseling, mentoring and leading studies. In their later years, one of their passions was to help and support bereaved individuals through the GriefShare program and support.
He loved and was always available to his three daughters: Terri, Tama and Jodi. He gave sound advice, and wisdom, and was a strong support to lean on. He was preceded in death by his son Jeff. In the years that followed, Dennis lovingly took on the role of raising Jeff’s son as his own.
He was competitive and active his entire life, working out in the gym even up to a few weeks before his passing. He loved roller coasters, watched Gun Smoke and the Voice. With his grandkids and great grandkids, he put on a pair of roller skates at 78, would play “pig” and occasionally beat them in a game of one on one. As they got older, he was up for arm wrestling competitions. He could often times be found on the floor with the grandkids and great grandkids coloring, putting together puzzles, playing Barbies and having match box car races. It was not uncommon for him to drop everything and go jump a car in the cold and in the dark. He listened and gave good advice to them whenever needed. He loved spending time with his family.
Dennis’ s absence leaves a void in all our lives. We rest in the assurance that he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior. The Dennis Winsett family welcomes you to celebrate and honor his life on June 24th at 11am at 1340 Haslett Rd, Haslett Mi 48840. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Women’s and Children’s Rescue Mission of Lansing, Michigan.
