He worked as a Correctional Officer within the prison system, ensuring safety and order, and later served as a Natural Resource Specialist with the Federal Government, showcasing his passion for nature and conservation. His role as a Safety Specialist with the VA demonstrated his commitment to protecting the welfare of veterans and their families. Even before these significant roles, during his college years, he nurtured his leadership skills as a Manager for a Farm and Home Store while earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University, where he was an esteemed member of the Honors Society.
David's character was a beacon of positivity and strength. Described as a great man, he was loved by everyone who had the privilege to know him. His magnetic personality and heartfelt compassion built a legacy of love that will resonate through family and friends for years to come.
Among his proudest accomplishments was serving as a Boy Scout Leader, through which he inspired many young minds and nurtured their love for adventure and camaraderie. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Kimberly (Kim) Hancock; his adoring father, David Allen Hancock Sr.; his loving mother, Rosalie Hancock; his brother, Greg Hancock; and his stepson, Christopher Lare. He also is survived by his father-in-law, Robert Brown, and sister-in-law, Melody Burris, who will forever hold dear the warmth and joy David brought to their lives. Among those who will deeply feel his absence are his dear and special friends, Jeff and Charlene Brannon, whose bond with David was filled with cherished moments and lasting companionship.
