Cheryl Elaine Harvey (Piercy)

August 30, 1946 – October 12, 2026

Cheryl Elaine Harvey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 12, 2026. Born on August 30, 1946, Cheryl was a loving, caring, and supportive woman whose family was the center of her world. She was the glue that held her family together, always making sure her children and grandchildren felt loved, supported, and cared for, no matter how old they were.

Cheryl was a strong woman of Christian faith, who loved God and raised her children to love the Lord and treat others with kindness and unconditional love. She enjoyed attending church, reading her Bible, and encouraging those around her to grow in their faith. Her love was evident in the little things she did, from calling her children to check on them to making sure everyone had a full belly and a place to feel at home.

Family gatherings and holidays were especially meaningful to Cheryl, who was known for her delicious home-cooked meals and homemade cakes. She passed down treasured family recipes to her children, creating traditions that will continue for generations. Cheryl also enjoyed reading with a cozy blanket, watching the Hallmark Channel, and playing word puzzles and Township on her tablet. She was a devoted cat lover who delighted in hearing stories about her family's cats and their mischievous adventures.

Cheryl worked at Friendship Village in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for 30 years, retiring in 2015 as a hostess and manager. She greeted residents with a friendly smile, made sure they were seated comfortably, and brought warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered. Her caring nature made a lasting difference in the lives of those she served.

Those who knew Cheryl will remember her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, and generous heart. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who continue to share her compassion, love for animals, and devotion to family and faith. As her family carries on their Christmas and Easter traditions, they will honor Cheryl through the meals they share, the love they give, and the faith that brought them together.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Vala Craig and Wallace Piercy.

She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Sherry Gallup and sons Joshua Maio and Jeremy Maio; her grandchildren, Jessica Montgomery, Alyssa Montgomery, and Destiney Maio; and her cherished great-grandson, Kieran. She is also survived by her cousins in Indiana, whom she loved dearly, along with other family members and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.

Cheryl's love, laughter, faith, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family will continue to honor her by loving one another, keeping their traditions alive, and sharing the warmth and compassion she gave so freely throughout her life.
