Carole Ann Finigan, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on July 13, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on January 28, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Carole was the cherished daughter of Florence and Jerry Rychecky. Raised with strong family values and a deep sense of compassion, she carried those principles throughout her life.

Carole married the love of her life, Michael Andrew Finigan in 1962, together they built a warm, welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their partnership lasted until Michael’s passing on February 8, 2008. Despite the profound loss, Carole continued to live a life grounded in their mutual devotion to family and community.

She is survived by her three children, Katie Finigan Walsh, Jenni (John) Bereckis, and Julie Patricia Finigan (Melissa). Carole took immense pride in being a grandmother to Finigan Walsh, Nessa Walsh, Payton Bereckis, Michael Finigan, Alan Petersen, Rebekah Petersen, Brandon Petersen, Adrionna Boyd, and Emily Ellis. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Carole’s life was full and vibrant. She had a sharp wit, a generous heart, and an unwavering strength that inspired all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures—traveling, watching movies with family, playing games, and crafting handmade pillows and blankets for those she loved. A lifelong animal lover, Carole shared her home with many cherished dogs and was surrounded by six of them during her final days.

Professionally, Carole enjoyed a remarkable 55-year career at H&R Block. She and Mike also embraced entrepreneurship, running a catering business, breeding dogs, operating a laundromat, and managing rental properties together. Before marriage, Carole performed with the Chicago Opera Guild from the age of 9 to 27, appearing in more than 50 productions.

Carole was also dedicated to serving others. She worked for over a decade with Dialogue for the Blind, an organization close to her heart. Her passion for learning and helping others led her to earn degrees in elementary education, music, and pastoral ministry.

Carole will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Carole’s life will be planned for the future, where family and friends can gather to share memories and honor her legacy.
